Each application for an ex-gratia grant, including those from school leavers, will receive consideration.
The ex-gratia grants application process and criteria includes consideration of applications in respect of trade tools when leaving school to start work, musical instruments, necessary text books etc.
Applications will be considered on the merits of each application on a case by case basis.
Any decisions regarding an ex-gratia grant will be based on the individual merits of each case and will not form a precedent for that or any other beneficiary.
Requests for ex-gratia payments should be made in writing to the Trusts Administrator detailing what they are for and the amount requested.
"The St George fund really excelled themselves this Christmas when we received a surprise visit from Patrick Cairns from the fund. The reason for this visit was to provide my three children with brand new laptop computers, and a printer, so the boy's can keep on top of their studies, and have a permanent access to the internet. The boy's and myself were simply overwhelmed with the generosity, and kindness shown to us from the St Georges fund. Patrick and the Team are a fantastic, professional, enthusiastic, and above all else a caring group of dedicated people. The Charity has made Christmas 2014 the most memorable one for all of us, and from every member of the Sowerby family, we thank you, and wish the Charity all the best for 2015." (Martin Sowerby, Medically Retired West Yorkshire Police)
"
Many, many thanks for the ex-gratia payment for a car to help take Connor (my 13 month old) out and about. Without this much needed and much appreciated financial help, I would have felt extremely isolated and would not have been able to take up the council offer of nursery care 2 afternoons a week, providing me with some respite during this difficult time."
